On December 21, 1999, he released his third and best-selling album, And Then There Was X. His third album made Billboard 200 debut at the top. His first Top Ten R&B smash, Party Up (Up in Here), from the album was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 2001 Grammy Awards. 

The album received a six times Platinum certification and a 2001 Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Album. DMX also had a brief cameo on the Sum 41 song Makes No Difference.

Tacoma Simmons’s Father Died From a Heart Attack

Earl Simmons, widely known by his stage moniker DMX, started using drugs when he was just 14 years old. The artist never succeeded in beating his addiction, despite visiting numerous recovery centers. It ultimately destroyed both his life and his musical career as a result.

On April 2, 2021, Simmons suffered a heart attack at home and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Sources speculate that a narcotic overdose may have caused the attack. Unfortunately, the rapper’s health had gotten worse and worse since he was brought to the hospital. He eventually passed away on April 9 and a cocaine-induced heart attack was the reason for his demise.
