Henry Tuilagi’s father was a high chief
Henry Tuilagi was born on 12th August 1976, in Fogapoa, Samoa. He holds Samoan nationality. His father Tuilagi Vavae was a politician and a deputy speaker of the Samoan government. He also served as a high chief on the Fatausi village council.
Henry’s mother Aliitasi used to run a shop in the humble village of Fatausi-Fogapoa, selling foods.
Safe to say, the family has had difficulties but they survived regardless. His older brother Freddie Tuilagi once summed up their life in a statement. He said, “We weren’t wealthy, we weren’t poor.”

He spent the majority of his childhood in Fogapoa with his six brothers Anitelea, Freddie, Alesana, Sanele, Manu, and Olotuli.

He made his professional debut playing for Parma in the Italian super 10 competition in 2002. The same year, Henry played the World Cup qualifier match against Fiji at Nadi, along with brothers Fereti and Alesana.
The player later also represented the national team of Samoa many times.
Henry’s time in Leicester Tigers
Henry Tuilagi made his biggest breakthrough after he joined Leicester Tigers in 2003. His first season with the team ended with his 24 appearances. He couldn’t make his full appearance during the full 2004/05 season because of his leg injury.
Henry was part of the team until going to France to play for Perpignan in the Top 14 in 2007. His younger brother Manu still plays for Leicester.

Henry Tuilagi once struggled with depression. He opened up his depression story with a very lengthy Facebook status after the death of a French rugby player, Franck Lascassies in June 2012. Frank reportedly committed suicide at the age of 21. Henry wrote,
